This Week’s Wandering News

“This Week’s Wandering News” is a collection of travel-related links TDT finds interesting. Though I’m a bit off this week, expect “Wandering News” to be posted every Sunday.

  • 81 year-old cyclist Bill Anderson is pedaling around the border of Arizona to raise money for a mission that cares for the homeless – he’s done charity rides for the same cause in previous years, crossing the country from North to South and from East to West. CNN reports that he’s “having a blast,” and seeing a lot of new country.
  • Several weeks ago, it was Kyoto – this week, Heather in Wanderland does it again with a thorough exploration of China’s main metropolis in Top 10 Beijing.
  • The Marmot’s Hole reports that Flickr, under it’s new Yahoo! ownership, is capitulating to restrictive decency laws in China, Germany and South Korea, and fostering censorship.
  • Time did a stunning photo series this week on “What the World Eats,” and shows stark differences between how much families spend for food around the planet.
