Dominic Gill is cycling from the northern edge of the world to the southern tip – on a tandem bicycle, by himself. He left Alaska last June and was near Guatemala last time he checked in, and he’s been picking up riders willing to pedal with him along the way! Having just returned from the Bay area and fallen in love with both the city and the greenery, I was sorry to see this news – via SFist, the mayor of Belmont (a bustling suburb just south of San Francisco) is refusing to sign the Sierra Club’s ‘Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement.’ Sad to see more evidence of a lack of commitment to preserving our natural environment.
